Muringa, Chakka & Coconut……

The world is united on three Kerala super food varieties.

Last afternoon, I chanced upon a bunch of Muringayila (leaves of muringa tree) and childhood memories got aroused. I may also mention that I have been reading with interest how this herb leaf is getting promoted as super health food.

I grabbed the bunch and made the muringayila thoran and posted the picture in the whatsapp broadcast group “Cooking Exotica & Fitness”.

I am being flooded with responses saying it is their favorite item too.

“Moringa oleifera is the most widely cultivated species of the genus Moringa, which is the only genus in the family Moringaceae. English common names include: moringa, drumstick tree, horseradish tree, ben oil tree, or benzoil tree. (Wikipedia)”.

Another website says ” It derives its name from the Malayalam word, ‘Muringa’. It is a multipurpose plant and its leaves, pods, fruits, flowers, roots and bark are beneficial in one way or the other.”

If you read the many many health benefits, you’re sure to get addicted to this wonder tree. Among the numerous benefits listed, AIDS prevention and cure is mentioned!!

Jackfruit is now health food the raw one curing diabetes!!

Chakka biriyani was in the state menu of the Indian government lunch for Theresa May, the British prime minister.

Now with beef ban, North India is importing raw jackfruits from Kerala for using as substitute to meat in dishes.

Coconut & Virgin Coconut Oil

I have contributed with some produce sharing and health articles are full of it’s benefits. Perhaps the best proof is the store shelves in USA full of coconut oil products.

Go natural…… Go traditional…… and be healthy……
