This is the original and a true Palakkaran (From Pala, where we have roots). Jackfruit seeds and raw mango curry with paste of grated coconut, green chillies, shallots, curry leaves, bit of turmeric powder and salt. Tempered with a sautéed mix.
First boil cleaned and cut Chakkakuru with a pinch of turmeric. Boil well to make the seeds soft. Add cut and skinned raw mango and boil for 7 more minutes.
Remove from fire and keep for a few minutes. And put back on slow fire.
Add the paste and water and bring almost to boil.
While the dish is cooling down, heat some oil, add mustard seeds and when it crackles add chopped onions, curry leaves. Sauté till onions turn brown. Add broken red chillies and sauté for one more minute.
Add these to the dish which is about to boil.
Mix and remove from fire.
Best with cooked rice and when hot.
(For absolute authenticity as a Palakkaran dish adopted from the recipe of a Palakkari)
Holy moly! This looks addictive. I love Jackfruit and though I’m not much of a Mango fan, I love Mango curry though. I’m gonna try this for sure. Thanks for sharing

ഇതിപ്പോ ഭയങ്കര പ്രശ്നമാ, ഇങ്ങനെ നമ്മുടെ നാടൻ കറികൾ വായിച്ചാല് എങ്ങനെ മനുഷ്യൻ സമാദാനത്തോടെ മറുനാട്ടിൽ ജീവിക്കും 😳😥 ഇന്നലെ വീട്ടിൽ വിളിച്ചപ്പോ അവിടെയും കഴിക്കാൻ ചക്ക വേവിച്ചത്, ഇനിയിപ്പോ വീട്ടില് ചെല്ലും മുൻപ് എന്റെ രണ്ടു അമ്മമാർക്കും ഓരോ “list of food items needed ” കൊടുക്കേണ്ടി വരും, അവര് കനിഞ്ഞാൽ ഇത് ഞാൻ കഴിക്കാൻ വകുപ്പുണ്ട് 🤓☺️👏🏻thank for reminding the good old nutritional authentic dish🙂

I was also feeling mighty proud of making something authentic with memory evoking taste. Distributed to some housewives in the building
