I made this Banana Bread. And the item was sent on my ‘Cooking Exotica & Fitness’ Whatsapp Broadcast Group – Banana Bread, recipe adopted from blog friend Diane whose blogs can be seen here ‘indianeskitchen’ and on http://www.indianeskitchen.com. Ingredients 1-3/4 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/3 cup shortening 2/3 cup sugar 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 cup mashed bananas, very ripe 1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional. Instead of the baking steps in the blog, I put everything into bread maker and this is the result. We had some guests at home and the bread was gobbled up enthusiastically. Actually turned out yummy.
Thank you Diane

I make it regularly since I always seem to buy more bananas than I actually eat before they get soft. I bake mine in a bread pan. I enjoy your freeform loaf.

What sort of shortening do you use? Very torn about oil vs butter in terms of the final product it produces
I did my own little banana bread experiment here:

Good morning. You are most welcome.
Yes six pack is on agenda. Struggling though. There’s setback too. Identifying protein shortage consumed some powder. Weight shot up over 5 kilos. Now stopped powder. Will update

Oh no! Don’t try all that protein shakes you get in the market. Nothing like the natural God given foods for replenishing the needed proteins. It’s available in all kind of lentils and especially in fried grams (pottu kadala ). Its the natural source of proteins for the poor people. Its a healthy snack too as it is not oil fried. Then ofcourse eggs and chicken, but the consumption shld be done in moderation.
Take it slow and steady. No hurry, we are willing to wait. U will achieve it, I am sure, for you are a man of determination.
Take care KJ…
