Resembled a Public Execution! Live Streaming of Flat Demolition.

Disgusting, actually it’s a mild way of putting it that we witnessed in the live TV coverage this morning of the demolition of three buildings following a Supreme Court order.

Apparently the demolition companies did their job well in bringing down the beautiful residences, home to many innocent people, many of them made money to buy the flats, toiling in the telling Middle East climate.

Instead of a sombre, poignant and sad atmosphere, we saw people on TV rejoicing with visible ecstasy in bringing down the dreams of many people. Of course, the demolition was perfect as per the recipe.

But the joyful people included politicians, municipal councillors, government officials, and others, some of whom were actually responsible for the construction.

We had a clear view from our balcony, and the impact sank in when Sunu, my wife, standing next to me, burst into tears when the first building went down.

And she couldn’t control further tears, when it was the turn of the other building where some of her close friends lived.

Very sad indeed.

  1. I agree though illegal but am sure the innocent people having put in so much money and woven so many dream around would have been scattered like a pack of cards … I wish this was identified at an early stage or there was some other way … may God give strength to the broken ones, to handle the situation 🙏
