Planks And My Modest Milestone!

I was doing just about 2 minutes on planks when I started intermittent fasting in January 2019. And I was not regular at it.

I looked at planks again, just a few days back when I stopped my practice to do 30 push-ups in one go, due to a slight niggle with the shoulder.

I was seeing better stamina and endurance with several kilos down on weight and was recording minutes 2.30, 2.45, 3, 3.30, 4.

And today I was on plank position for over 5 minutes. That’s a milestone.

8 hours 15 minutes and 15 seconds. That’s how long George Hood all of 62 years stood on the plank position to set a new world record.

This news has such a humbling effect on me, a self proclaimed fitness enthusiast and an advertised performer.

I do planks, and i feel like on top of the world when i cross 3 minuets on the stop watch in front of me.

There’s a whole new world of physical fitness thresholds out there and there’s no harm in trying out something new all the time. There’s no guarantee that one would be anywhere near the possible levels, but there’s always the satisfaction of trying. Better be a competitor than a passive spectator.

Practice, practice and practice is the mantra. It need not be for the world record, but try to be the number one in a private group.

But dream, set the imagination at the world level, aim for the moon, one will at least be the winner at the local club.

And most importantly, you get fit and continue to be an athlete. Champion of ‘dreams come true’.
